Words are powerful. What you say can have a lasting impact — on others and on yourself.
Now let’s flip the script: What happens when you are on the receiving end of careless or hurtful words?
Staying level-headed when someone throws mean or spiteful comments your way is hard. I get it — most of us want to fight back, prove them wrong, defend ourselves. There’s a time and place for confrontation. But if you’re constantly reacting to someone else’s truth, judgment, or circumstance, you’re setting yourself up for a lifetime of stress and emotional exhaustion. Who wants that?
Remember: sticks and stones may break bones, but words don’t have to break your spirit.
Someone else’s point of view is theirs to own — it doesn’t have to become your reality. Learning to hold your ground, engage in positive confrontation, and listen before you respond is where true confidence lies. Don’t absorb negativity or pessimism.
Be the rock that doesn’t break.
